“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.”
-Antoine De Saint-Exupéry
I recently came across this quote while reading the latest Forbes magazine. The quote brings up a good point that so many leaders could benefit from today.
We see so many leaders today try to lead by giving their employees commands. Commands are like giving someone a fish. They will eat for a day and the effect isn’t long-lasting.
But if you show someone the vision, it will be like teaching them to fish. They will be able to eat forever.
