I was trying to get rich quick. In my haste to make money so I could reach financial independence faster, I was so hopped up on reading business books, biographies of successful people, and listening to inspirational videos on Youtube everyday that I was high-strung, overstressed, and worked myself to the bone.
For days, I would sit there from sun up till sundown, working on my laptop, trying to set up my blog or trying to come up with good article ideas in order to generate more clicks so I could get more ad revenue.
I gave myself unrealistic deadlines on projects, which only stressed me out even further. I had ignored friends, family, my girlfriend, and my health. I barely ate because I was so busy working on my projects.
It was only after days of this that I finally had a realization. Life is supposed to be fun.
So I decided to give myself more time to write. More time to breathe. More time to hangout with my girlfriend. More time to LIVE. You know? Go out and watch movies, take a walk, go work out, read about something that wasn’t business. Listen to music.
So far, my mind is a little bit calmer. I will have to see where this goes and how it turns out. But as of right now, life is meant to be fun and we should enjoy it while we are here.
This doesn’t mean don’t work at all and just go out and have fun all the time. This means to have fun while you’re focusing on your projects and goals.
We have to make sure that we don’t rush to reach our goals and end up killing our mind, body, soul in the process. We need to remember to breathe and relax every once in a while. We have to make sure there’s something of us left when we get reach our goals.
